Billionare Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan has held talks about buying Newcastle but there is still some distance to be covered for any agreement to be reached. It is understood Sheikh Khaled has expressed interest in purchasing the club but talks are still ongoing before any deal is finalised. It is not the first time that Sheikh Khaled has wanted to buy a Premier League club, having failed to takeover Liverpool in 2018 following a £2bn quote. Newcastle United have been subject to unsuccessful takeover attempts from Amanda Staveley and Peter Kenyon in the most recent past. Manager Rafa Benitez led the Magpies to a 13th-place finish in the Premier League in the just completed season.
