Geoff Plunkett said those in quarantine were left to their own devices as they wandered through Auckland's Myers Park. New Zealand-born Geoff Plunkett returned to Auckland on April 23 to mourn the death of his aunt. Arriving in the country at the tail end of lockdown, which lifted four days later, Plunkett said guests were free to socialise and roam their central Auckland hotel. Guests were able to socialise in the quarantine hotel, Geoff Plunkett said. While the government's clear messaging on the Covid alert levels was spot-on, Plunkett said the quarantine protocols could be strengthened in New Zealand.
