Drier conditions mean more cracks and cavities for rats to enjoy, and good weather is perfect for breeding. The council used Brodifacoum​ every three months to control predators in the Town Belt and the city's reserves. "Fortunately, we're lucky in Wellington as there's been a brilliant uprising of community-led predator control programmes which target the smaller predators such as rats."
