Drunken post office queue jumper jailed for punching woman after she challenged him

A man who jumped a Post Office queue, punched a woman to the ground when she challenged him and then attacked her husband has been jailed for three months. Simon O’Donnell, a member of the Travelling community, also threatened to kill the couple after the woman called him a “knacker”. Judge Gerard Jones sentenced O’Donnell after hearing the woman had been bruised and “emotionally damaged” by the attack. The court heard O’Donnell was at Centra, Neilstown Shopping Centre, Clondalkin, in an intoxicated state on October 21 last year. The accused had been co-operative, pleaded early, and the victim had not had to come to court, Mr Fleming said.
