Drunk pair prompt early morning harbour callout in Dunedin

Police were called to a bizarre water rescue in Dunedin. Officers were called to Otago Harbour by Armourguard, after concerns were raised by an intoxicated man who threw his friend into Otago Harbour about 2.30pm on Thursday. The man then changed his story, telling police his friend jumped into the harbour some 40 minutes earlier, Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Dunedin, said. The man was surprised not to see his friend treading water when he returned to the scene. As police called Search and Rescue a "sodden male" wearing a jacket, boxer shorts and a pair of boots approached them.
