Pol Colonel Jakkrapong Kenthaway, commander of the Kudjub police station, said Surapong Chanthachat, 29, alias Jack of Chiang Peng, was shot dead at his hut in Ban Chiang Peng village in Tambon Chiang Peng of Kudjub district at 9pm. Jakkrapong said the suspect was killed by a team of officers dispatched to arrest him following an earlier drug bust. He was shot at the left side of his chest, his left arm and left leg. Surachai said Surapong often announced his arrival at the hut by firing into the sky, as if he was telling local drug abusers to buy drugs for him. He was arrested on August 31 for carrying guns in a public place and using methamphetamine, and had been free on bail.
