There were 373 cases of drug trafficking via cargo in the first half of the year at the airport - up 37 percent for the same period last year. Superintendent Lau Ching-lung, head of customs' air command air cargo group, said the drugs - including cocaine, ice and ketamine - were concealed in various ways to evade detection. Customs said it had also uncovered 36 drug trafficking cases on passenger flights in the first half of the year, seizing HK$110 million worth of drugs. The total weight of drugs seized rose 40 percent from the same period last year. "We will closely pay attention to the trend of global drug trafficking, continue to exchange intelligence with local, mainland and overseas law enforcement agencies and adopt effective strategies to end drug-related activities," Lau said.
