The Beltrán Leyva clan has battled the Sinaloa cartel for dominance of the lucrative drug trade in Mexico's western Sierra Madre ever since. "At 32, he is considered the heir to the Sinaloa cartel," Penn wrote. Joaquín Guzmán, who has escaped twice from Mexico's toughest prisons, is locked up at a facility just south of the US border.
