This can be applied to the claim made by the minister of state for interior that around 20pc college and university students of Islamabad are drug addicts. A survey conducted by the Department of Sociology of the Quaid-e-Azam University has however contradicted the claim saying no more than 2pc students in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar are regular drug users. Based on every day observation we find the results of the survey conducted by the university close to reality. The easy availability of drugs in the country, however, shows the state has failed to eradicate the menace.
