Two years before Jentsch drowned, 16-year-old Jarod Lineses drowned at the same beach, she said. Supplied German tourist Carolin Klara Emma Jentsch, 23, died from an accidental drowning at Northland's Hukatere Beach on December 14, 2016. Coroner McDowell said Jentsch was swimming at the beach when she got into difficulty. Her family's objections to a post-mortem examination meant Coroner McDowell determined her cause of death from the circumstances surrounding the incident. Coroner McDowell said Jentsch's death was the "result of a tragic accident at a time when she was experiencing the adventures of overseas travel".
