The Jatiya Party leaders, including Raushon, have defended their position on several occasions, though. He has termed 'shameful' having its leaders as ministers despite being the opposition in parliament, and said the Jatiya Party ministers would resign if Hasina allowed them to do so. Someone from the Treasury bench said at the time the prime minister had asked the Jatiya Party leaders to leave their ministries. The prime minister at the beginning of her speech thanked the Jatiya Party for playing the role of a ‘constructive opposition’. She also mentioned many amendment proposals brought by the Jatiya Party during the passage of laws.
