District Administration demolishes illegal structures along the bank of Buriganga River on Wednesday; February 6, 2019 Mahmud Hossain Opu/Dhaka TribuneThe drives began on Wednesday morningDrives against illegal establishments on the banks of Buriganga and Karnaphuli rivers is underway. In Dhaka, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) is conducting a drive at Koylaghat in Kamrangirchar to demolish illegal establishments along the Buriganga river. BIWTA in its previous eviction drive from January 29 to 31 evicted individuals from 444 illegal establishments along the Buriganga river. The inhabitants of these illegal establishments will be evicted in different phases. On Tuesday, the local administration bulldozed 80 illegal establishments on the drive’s second day.
