A driver crashed into a ditch near Lawrence and became trapped in their car in the early hours of this morning. A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said firefighters freed the driver shortly after arriving about 3.45am. St John spokesman Gerard Campbell said an ambulance attended the crash on State Highway 8 near Breakneck Rd, but the driver was uninjured and no treatment was required.
