The fund was named after Frank Cleal who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma aged 11 in 2019. After two years of treatment, including intensive high toxicity chemotherapy to try to combat an exceptionally aggressive childhood cancer, passed away on June 4, 2021 aged just 13. The fund provides grants to the family of every child with cancer in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Powys, Monmouthshire, Ceredigion, and Gloucestershire. It recently began providing funding for a Herefordshire childhood cancer Family Support Worker for three months. The fund is in the memory of Frank Cleal, who tragically died from cancer at the age of 13.
