The raw and moving image, taken by Alex Michele, has since hit a nerve with thousands of parents who are remembering their own experiences. Capturing a a mum moments after giving birth, by herself in bed, Alex adds an explanation: "I saw you, mama. We ask how baby is, what does baby need, can we hold the baby, can we buy this for the baby but ... what about mama?" Postpartum care for a mum is of paramount importance to both her and baby, and extends for weeks after giving birth.
