Kilifi County Woman Representative Gertrude Mbeyu was publicly booed by a section of the crowd during Mashujaa Day celebrations over her alleged criticism of Governor Gideon Mung’aro’s administration. At one time, Mbeyu had to cut off her speech a bit pleading with the Kaloleni MP to urge the crowd to be silent so that she could speak. On several occasions, the microphone she was using went off, forcing her to ask the technicians to resolve the problem to enable her to deliver the Mashujaa Day speech. I have come to celebrate Mashujaa Day, as Mama Mbeyu, I am a heroine,” she said. After her speech, the woman rep went back to her seat but moments after the Deputy Governor Flora Chibule started giving her speech and urged her to be respectful, she left.
