A newborn girl on Thursday was about to be buried in Faridpur because she was declared dead by a doctor but she showed signs of life by crying out at the graveyard. A pulse is the key indicator of life, the doctor could have used a stethoscope to figure out if the infant was alive, this is basic training in the medical profession which he failed to practice, Dr Zafarullah said at the event held at LGED, Agargaon. He also asked what was the use of having establishments like Faridpur Medical College Hospital if people seeking medical treatment must travel to Dhaka. Zafarullah spoke of other medical malpractices such as the recent incidents at DMCH where victims of road accident were killed after being treated by a cleaner with fatal injections. He said the on-duty doctors and nurses should be held responsible for letting that happen.
