Dr Wee calls into question function of Special Cabinet Committee On Anti-Corruption - Nation

PETALING JAYA: The function of the Special Cabinet Committee On Anti-Corruption has been called into question after Latheefa Koya's appointment as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief. MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic) said based on a media report in August 2018, the Cabinet committee had decided that the appointment of the MACC chief commissioner must go through a Parliamentary Select Committee for transparency. "The committee was not approached, and no Cabinet ministers were informed," he said in a statement on his Facebook page Saturday (June 8). Dr Wee was referring to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's decision to appoint Latheefa to the position, which was previously held by Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull. Dr Wee ended the statement by noting that he recalled a popular English song by Frank Sinatra - My Way.
