Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu to be sworn in as Nagaland CM on Wednesday

GUWAHATI: The political drama of Nagaland ended on Monday with 59 MLAs of ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) electing 81 year leader Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu as its leader. The new chief minister will be sworn in on Wednesday.Agitating tribal bodies which were against 33 percent women reservation in urban local bodies (ulbs) ensured that T.R Zeliang steps down. "He has done this with a big heart and I want all to recognize this sacrifice," Dr Shurhozelie said. "What was supposed to be a social movement took strange directions when politically-vested interests started to steer the movement. "He mentioned Neiphiu Rio for his efforts to bring normalcy in the Naga society at this moment when various organisations have brought the entire society and the functioning of the Government to a grinding halt."
