At least another 250,000 people in the UK are to be offered medication for high blood pressure under new guidance being finalised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice). This may sound a lot, but given that at least 15 million adults in the UK have raised blood pressure, one in three of whom remain undiagnosed, treating an extra quarter of a million is only a relatively small step in the right direction.
