KUALA LUMPUR: The appointment of the next Chief Justice is awaiting the approval of the Conference of Rulers, says Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. “It seems that there is a provision for the appointment to be submitted to the Conference of Rulers and not just to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Dr Mahathir was responding to reports yesterday which claimed that he and the Malay Rulers are in a stalemate over the appointment of the next Chief Justice. Malanjum, the first Sabahan to hold the top post in the judiciary, served as the Chief Justice for nine months. Earlier, at a press conference, Dr Mahathir announced the revival of the Bandar Malaysia project with some changes.
