BEIJING: The Belt and Road Forum has allayed fears that the Malacca Straits and South China Sea would be dominated by a superpower nation, says Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. The Prime Minister admitted that he was once worried that the Belt and Road Initiative would only benefit China. But he changed his view after attending the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which was held on Friday (April 26) and Saturday (April 27). "This is an international gathering (of world leaders) to discuss cooperation, policies and plans to develop their countries respectively," he added. "I understand more about the initiative now and believe it will benefit all participating countries," he told a press conference before heading to the airport to return home on Sunday (April 28).
