Dr Dzul: Cabinet should review the move to cut critical service allowance

PETALING JAYA: The issue over the government's decision to cut the Critical Service Incentive Allowance starting from Jan 1 next year will be brought back to the Cabinet for a discussion, says Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad (pic). “I have requested the Deputy Minister, Ministry secretary-general and directors-general to meet with the Public Service Department (PSD) as soon as possible to discuss about the circular. In a circular dated Dec 20, the PSD announced that the government will no longer give the Critical Service Incentive Allowance to 33 professions from next year. Among those affected are medical officers, pharmacists, dentists, nurses, engineers, air traffic controllers, architects, marine architects, legal officers, agricultural officers, vocational training officers, marine officers and research officers. Those receiving the allowance at present will continue to get it, including contract workers whose contracts are renewed.
