On Monday, the decomposed bodies were discovered on the banks of the Ganges in the northern state of Bihar, with residents telling local officials they had seen dozens floating downstream. A football and cricket stadium is being converted into a hospital for Covid-19 patients with 430 beds. There are 2,100 beds reserved in government centres for Covid-19 patients in Gauhati, with hundreds more planned.
