Nickolay Mladenov, special coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, is expected to brief the United Nations Security Council during its meeting on the situation in the Middle East and Gaza Tuesday morning, the UK Ambassador Karen Pierce told reporters. “Obviously it’s a very concerning event, it’s a very sad thing," Pierce said, speaking outside Security Council Chamber on Monday. "The casualty list is now over 50 with more, possibly up to a thousand injured. This is not what we want to see on the ground." US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley did not speak to the press on her way into Security Council chambers to attend an unrelated meeting.
