One day after the S&P 500 closed at a new record high, the Dow Jones industrial average was poised Tuesday to do the same. Shortly before midday, the Dow was up more than 118 points at 18,345, putting its above the all-time high close it hit back in May 2015. The S&P 500 was also up, adding 15 points to reach 2,152, while the Nasdaq composite index was ahead by 28 points at 5,027On Bay Street, the S&P/TSX composite index was up 117 points to 14,479. On currency markets, the British pound shot up as one element of post-Brexit uncertainty was to be removed with the selection of Theresa May to take over from David Cameron as British prime minister on Wednesday. The price for benchmark North American oil was up $1.78 US at $46.54 US per barrel.
