The Dow Jones closed above the 35,000 level for the first time ever on Friday as Wall Street rebounded from a rocky week fueled by fears around the Delta variant. The Dow rose 238.20 or 0.7 percent to 35,061.55, making history as the first time on record it has topped 35,000. All three indexes finished with gains of better than 1 percent for the week. The turnaround comes after Wall Street faced a sharp downturn Monday that saw the Dow record its worst day since October. Jay Hatfield, CEO of Infrastructure Capital Advisors, said the key concern for Wall Street looking through 2021 and into next year is the potential for 'stagflation.'
