New York, Jan. 25: The Dow Jones industrial average has crossed the 20000-mark for the first time, resuming a rally that began in the wake of President Donald Trump's surprise election victory. Wall Street is optimistic that the executive actions and policy goals on trade, manufacturing and business deregulation would be good for corporate America. Strong earnings from Boeing and other big companies also helped push the Dow, which tracks 30 major industrial companies, past the threshold early on and had US stocks solidly higher by afternoon. It is just a number but it is a big number, it is certainly a flashy number," said Tim Ghriskey, chief investment officer of Solaris Group in Bedford Hills, New York. If the Dow reaching 20000 has any impact, it is likely to be a psychological one.
