When I figured out the trick today, I went in the opposite direction and briefly imagined how fun a giant mega-puzzle would be, with 26 examples, if that would even be possible. Wyna Liu has come on like gangbusters with four end-of-week puzzles over the last year or so — this is her first big grid. Tricky CluesYes, there is a confusing typo in the print version of this puzzle, at 82A. I really like the fill today; everything from the range of names to the geographical clues and the slang terms are eclectic and fun. The only real gotchas for me were “savor” instead of SAPOR and “clasp” for CLING, so I’ll be curious to see what misdirected others.
