Firoza Begum, mother of Bakhteyar Hossain Manik, made the allegation in a murder case filed against seven people with Bakalia police three days after the incident on Tuesday. The prime accused in the case are Sajjad Hossain alias Chhoto Sajjad, a listed criminal according to police who was arrested in Dhaka on Mar 15, and his wife Sharmin Akter Tamanna. Sarwar Hossain Babla, a listed criminal according to police, was in the car chased by motorcycles in the early hours of Sunday. Injured Md Robin and the family of the deceased suspect that followers of Chhoto Sajjad, a recently arrested criminal, carried out the attack targeting him. The statement claimed that Choto Sajjad and his wife Tamanna had planned to attack the car with the intention of killing Sarwar and others.
