Dossier seeks recognition of Ha Long-Cat Ba as world natural heritageA dossier will be built to propose the area of the World Natural Heritage Site Ha Long Bay, which is in the northern province of Quang Ninh, be expanded to Cat Ba archipelago in nearby Hai Phong city. The dossier looks to seek UNESCO recognition of Ha Long Bay-Cat Ba archipelago as a world natural heritage site. It must be compiled in line with the 1972 World Heritage Convention and Vietnam’s relevant regulations. It was twice recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994 and 2000. Meanwhile, Cat Ba archipelago covers more than 17,000 hectares of land and 9,200 hectares of sea.
