According to Rystad, " ExxonMobil was the most successful, with three significant offshore discoveries accounting for a whopping 38% of total discovered volumes. European majors Total and Eni are also in the fold with successful offshore wells in South Africa, the United Kingdom, Angola and Egypt." So this could be just the first of a series of successful discovery wells there. Also in February, ExxonMobil announced the successful completion of two new wells in its Staebrook Block off the coast of Guyana. The Staebrook Block consists of 6.6 million acres roughly 120 miles off the coast of Guyana, a tiny nation with a population of less than 800,000.
