Thanks to two of their heavyweights, the Toronto Blue Jays managed to send the New York Yankees down for the count in a slug-fest on Friday night at the Rogers Centre. The Jays took leads of 5-0 and 6-4 but the first-place Yankees kept chipping away at the Toronto lead. The Jays managed to get 10 hits off Pineda, including the Donaldson and Smoak homers. With reliever Adam Warren on the mound for the Yankees, Smoak got on via an error by first baseman Chris Carter to lead off the seventh. The next batter, Tulowitzki, slashed a double to right and then Smoak scored on a sacrifice fly to centre by Travis.
