Papadopoulos pleaded guilty last year to lying to federal agents about the timing and significance of his contacts with Russians. The FBI cancelled the meeting when it discovered that Papadopoulos had sat down for a media interviewabout the case. At that meeting, Papadopoulos proposed brokering a meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
