Donald Trump’s false claims that the 2020 election was ‘stolen’ and that he’s the true winner have been termed “The Big Lie.” Over the last year-and-a-half, he’s made several efforts to redirect the term — even as he continued to spread his Big Lie freely. Now, he’s trying to claim that one news network’s language shift somehow supports his false election claims. A big step by CNN. Of course, the first lie here is that CNN “has announced” that it’s banning the phrase — that is clearly refuted in the initial reporting, that it’s Licht’s preference, not a mandate. However, if the network was truly afraid of being prosecuted for calling out Trump’s lies, they probably wouldn’t be replacing the phrase “the Big Lie” with “Trump’s election lies.”So, is the network still calling a lie a lie?
