According to him, over-politicising of the paper and pulp industry together with oil boom, have rendered the industry ineffective for many decades. Akpabio, who specialises in polymer and paper, said the paper and pulp industry operates at very low level because of politics despite the country’s abundant resources and raw materials available for paper production. “Paper making and effective utilisation of paper production will improve the standard of education. He noted that his interest in paper production started in 1980 when the FG embarked on industrialisation. We need national development in Nigeria today and anything that will promote national development is highly welcome.
