The 32-year-old Boon Heong, who won the All-England doubles title with Koo Kien Keat in 2007, spoke out against the Badminton Associa-tion Malaysia’s (BAM) stance to go to the Finals despite the virus threat. Boon Heong, a six-time Thomas Cupper, does not see the value in playing in a sub-standard Finals and exposing the national team members health to unnecessary risk. I don’t know if that’s the right thing to do because health should always be the priority... we only have one life. Boon Heong admitted that it would be a tough call if he was in the current players’ shoes. “When the country needs you, you just got to do it, ” said Boon Heong.
