Doklam standoff with China: Sashastra Seema Bal to get intelligence wing

The Centre has approved creation of 650 combatised posts for intelligence setup, a big boost to the operational efficiency of the border guarding force. Doklam is the Indian name for the region which China refers to as Donglong. Sashastra Seema Bal had sent a proposal to the ministry for installing an intelligence set-up to strengthen the efficiency and operational mandate of the force on borders and for internal security duties in J&K and anti-Naxal duties in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) areas. SSB has also been declared as the Lead Intelligence Agency (LIA) for both the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders.
