In the first signs of thaw between India and China over the two-month-long standoff over Doklam region, senior Army officers of both sides are holding a meeting at Nathu La in Sikkim. An earlier meeting at a subordinate level of officers could not achieve any breakthrough. Indian and Chinese forces remain deployed at the Doklam plateau. There is no official confirmation of Nathu La border defence management meet. China has been repeatedly provoking India over the standoff, warning of military action if New Delhi does not withdraw its troops unilaterally and even threatening to enter Kashmir and Uttarakhand.
