Robin Ballantine had tied his Labrador Cole, five, outside a Tesco store in Bangor, County Down, alongside his two other dogs - another Labrador and a Springer Spaniel. But when he came back after doing his shopping, he discovered Cole had a large part of one ear missing. And, after visiting a vet, he is convinced the injury was caused deliberately. "The vet couldn't believe how clean the cut was - she thought it might have been a razor or blade. "She checked it out and we've just got to be careful to keep his ear clean and to look after him."
