'Dog bone' roundabout not happening in Conway Village

By Daymond SteerCONWAY — Selectmen were told Tuesday there is a less expensive way to solve traffic congestion in Conway Village than constructing a large roundabout known as a "dog bone." The Main Street project involves ripping out old leaded water pipes, repaving a section of Route 16, fixing drainage and rebuilding sidewalks. The entire Main Street project would require two construction seasons, he added. Selectman's Chairman David Weathers said it's good for the public to know that in 2018 Main Street will be torn up. The Route 16 Bridge over the Saco also will be rehabilitated in 2017 and 2018.
