Doctors issued the warning after a middle-aged man was taken to hospital for the condition after first visiting his family doctor. Blood tests ordered by his doctor revealed he had seven times the amount of vitamin D in his body than what is needed to stay healthy. The NHS advises people to take the recommended level of vitamin D - especially through the autumn and winter when it is hard to get enough from sun exposure. The NHS recommends that everyone over 1 year old considers taking a daily 10 microgram or 400 IU vitamin D supplement from October to March.
