Doctors diagnosed Chan with mental disorder, but none suicidal


The inquest of 15-year-old Chan Yin-lam’s death enters the second day, doctors said Chan is diagnosed with mental health disorder. A social work officer told Coroner Ko Wai-hung that Chan was sent to Tuen Mun Children and Juvenile Home six times, and discovered her first act of self mutilation during March last year. Chan reported to officials that she was insulted and provoked by police officers before admitting to Girl’s home. 3 doctors who treated Chan in Tuen Mun hospital before also testified during today’s hearing, they said Chan has been diagnosed with acute stress disorder and oppositional defiant disorder. In which Castle Peak Hospital Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Doctor Yeung said in court that Chan doesn’t have suicidal tendencies, but will sometimes have a pattern of defiance towards authority figures.
