Doctors have blamed the Tripura community’s ignorance and faith in witch doctors for the death of nine children from a yet unidentified disease at a remote Sitakunda village in Chittagong. Bimal Tripura, who has lost his two-year-old son, said they had sought a witch doctor’s help when the children fell sick. “They stayed indoors and told us to leave immediately, saying they did not need medical treatment,” Rashid said.
