Doctor out to swindle Kenyans over virus test kits finedA Nairobi clinic has been slapped with a Sh500,000 fine for attempting to cash in on the coronavirus pandemic. Dr Pranav Pancholi (pictured) who runs Avane Cosmetics Dermatology Clinic and Medical Spa was fined by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) for false advertising and operating a clinic without a license. In the ruling delivered on Friday, KMPDC said the advertisement was improper and contravened the Medical Practitioners and Dentists (Advertising) Rules, 2016. The clinic had advertised on social media that it was selling Covid-19 rapid test kits for early diagnosis at Sh3,000.
