Secretary Fortunato de la Peña .TMT File photoTHE Department of Science and Technology (DoST) called on industry, technology and policy adaptation to address concerns on non-environmentally acceptable products (NEAPs), such as single-use plastics. In a virtual presser, officials of DoST-Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) have presented technologies that could be adapted to manage solid wastes. These technologies could help assist communities in having a material recovery facility as well as proper segregation practices. The study on economic and life cycle analysis of single-use plastics in the Philippines shall address environmental protection and economic growth and social wellbeing of the current and future generations," said Director Annabelle Briones. Secretary Fortunato de la Peña assured the public DoST will be discussing the issues and concerns raised during the virtual presser on addressing NEAPs and that they aim to have up-to-date facilities to further improve innovations.
