In putting in its two cents’ worth, however, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has offered an even more reasonable solution. There are several ways that regulation of sin products can be circumvented or abused through online sales. Fortunately, the DTI has suggested some reasonable steps to avoid a complete ban on online sales of sin products while still ensuring that the trade is carried out legally and responsibly. The sale of sin products outside those parameters of proper registration, verification of tax-compliant, original products and the practice of proper age profiling of customers then can and should be banned, Lopez said. Alcohol and tobacco products are not a necessity for anyone, and the government certainly does not need to tolerate illegal or abusive trade in them.
