With the Aadhaar database, census might become unnecessary in India. Eventually, the Aadhaar database could become a dynamic census database, ready to serve any purpose at any point of time. Then, if the data of Census 2021 is properly digitised, tallied and linked with the Aadhaar database, we may not need to carry out any future census exercise.
