Lecturers could take part in 14 days of strikes over changes to the national universities’ pension scheme PETER BYRNE/PAEleven university vice-chancellors have broken ranks with the rest of the sector to demand fresh talks with lecturers in an attempt to head off weeks of strikes at campuses. The bosses of universities including Warwick, Essex, Loughborough, Lancaster, Goldsmiths University of London and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) have said their negotiators should get back around the table with the lecturers’ union to avoid damaging the education of students. Universities face 14 days of strikes by lecturers between now and the end of the spring term in a row over pensions.
