The success of the season could hinge on securing promotion because a potential Munster final with Kerry is in Killarney, where Cork haven’t won in 31 years and they’re not yet realistic All-Ireland contenders. Cork could rebound from a defeat at the weekend by surging towards the business end of the championship.
